2. The sun was hitting it just right
and the light seemed to surround it. My favorite rose bush in the yard (we have 6 or so). Thanks for the kind words btw!

3. I tried to find some good back light flowers. I found some but
when the sun came from behind the clouds, the wind would pick up and cause the flowers to sway.

timing is everything, isn't it.

8. My problem is not being able to
carry equipment. I can't use shoulder straps. I've rigged up a belt with a camera bag attached, but it is limiting. My SLR with a telephoto is rather heavy and clumsy.

Compact digital cameras have been my savior. Reflectors and slave flash would be nice, but my budget and other limitations forces me into taking what I can get with available light.

9. just a thought
The other day I was taking some photos of some flowers in poor light and used a good flashlight to get the illumination I needed. Wasn't too bad of a shot either for being low tech. Us hillbillies can work wonders with duct tape, flashlights, and a screw driver :)
