I'm having so much fun with everyone either enjoying or agonizing over "RED"
coming up.
I was thrown a curve with that topic from the start, and voted for it for that reason.
I like a challenge. I have 5 contenders, and can't decide. But I'm too green here to post a poll.

It is lots of fun to watch and learn. I sort of apologize for my verbosity and for being opinionated, but I have rarely had such a precious augmentation to my life as hanging out with you guys.

Thanks for following through on what the "Welcome" promises, which is that this point and shoot photographer, who always has a camera in her pocket, was so accepted.

4. God help us... any of us... if we ever
stop encouraging someone who wants to learn.

I hope that comes across right.

5. Everything I know about photography,
I've learned from the members of this group. It's the best group on DU, I think.

3. Oh, please put up a poll
I want to see them all.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I haven't seen a single interesting thing around me that's red. I don't mind entering a picture that I think won't win, but I'm not going to enter anything that isn't interesting, at least to me.

But, I do still have some time. And I am keeping my eyes open.

I'm point and shoot too. And I'm pretty much just getting started with all this.

14. Trocadero- You are impressing the Heck out of me with your photos,
- I also like your name - Welcome to DU - welcome to the Photographers - start a thread and tell us if you stepped out of an Opera or reside in Sicily or who you are.
I also very much love your entry in the winter contest.

16. Thanks!
I can't start a thread yet - I think I need 30 posts.

The Trocadero is a plaza area near the Eiffel Tower, at least that is the one that is my inspiration!

20. Absolutely - I remember now because I have been fortunate enough
to have spent time in Paris.
Off the top of my head it sounded Italian. Now I know it is Spanish.
=============
googled:
In the Battle of Trocadero, the fortified position on the Bay of Cádiz in the south of Spain was captured on August 31, 1823, by French forces led by the Duc d'Angoulême, son of the future king Charles X. The goal was to intervene against the liberal Spanish who were rebelling against the autocracy of Ferdinand VII. Trocadero restored the autocratic Spanish Bourbon Ferdinand to the throne of Spain, in an action that defined the Restoration. The name trocadero comes from the term referring to an emporium or place of trade.

The event was considered worthy of commemoration in Paris: the name place du Trocadéro was given in 1877 (though the name had been associated with the area since 1823) to a square formerly known as the place du Roi de Rome (i.e., Place of the King of Rome), the renaming being an example of discarding a reference to a defeated regime. Today that square is officially named place du Trocadéro et du 11 Novembre, though it is usually simply called the place du Trocadéro.
===================
I had forgotten about the fact you have to hang out a while before you can post.

15. I've really enjoyed....
.....your photos and commentary, specifically, and the overall accessable and welcoming nature of everyone who posts here, especially the regulars.

There's lots to learn, great ideas shared and discussed, and it's a terrific place to spend time, especially during a hectic day. And, what's more, you've seemed to have weaved your way nicely into the group, and are giving back to some of us newer folks the same benefits you've received from others, previously. So, the process goes on unbroken.

NOW, unfortunately, the only thing RED in my life these days is my nose......................as my past week's bout with the creeping crud has single-handedly bolstered tissue prices in the durable goods market, and kept the Dow propped up over the 8000 mark this week.

Obviously, I jest, but I'm just itching to be out there taking pictures (no pun intended).

In the meantime, I'll resurrect a shot from this past Summer, taken at some friends' home up in Wisconsin, that's got a little bit of red for you this morning.

Enjoy!

21. Dear and kind words, I thank you. If you turn off the flash you
could take a photo of your nose in the mirror, a companion piece to the photo of the toes I fell for.

I'm so new here ( a few months hanging out with the photographers, actually I think right after the election I started to look and poke around the board at large)
that I don't yet have a good grip on what gets shown and appreciated, and what is a joke.

I'm also gullible.

24. I think the nose knows......
....when to just stay out of everybody else's way! LOL!!!

Also wanted to say CONTRATULATIONS for the DU Front Page recommendation you've been getting for the cool video you brought to everyone's attention. :toast:

See? We here in the Photography Group aren't the only ones to benefit from having you as a terrific member of the community-at-large.

Well done.

But, the way they looked was really cool, and the colors were just terrific, so........

first choice: second to last
second choice: first one

May rationale for the first choice is that it allows us to see the subtle differences in the red tones more easily than in the others.
