Can't quite let go of Red - didn't we have fun with it

I have not been around this forum long enough to say it with certainty, but "Red" provided more stimulation and fun than other contests, didn't it?

First we did not know what to do with it (speaking for myself of course) and then EVERYthing around us seemed red.

Anyway, here is one of my potential entries, and I wanted you to see it before it goes back into the files. It's the gardens of the Getty Museum in LA.

I want to either encourage you to post your own "rejects" if we have not seen them, or you can always ask me to see some more of mine.
;)

1. That is a very, very nice picture!
I'd love to go to the Getty Museum.

I've actually posted most of my rejects in the Tennessee River Reds thread. I was happy enough with the results that I put them in a Facebook folder and someone even commented. I'm way beyond the Facebook demographic age, but my kids got me started, so I could look at their pictures.

I ended up having fun with "Red", even though I picked a picture I took in December.

I didn't post this one here. This is the most important red in the river for a boat--

8. Precious ! A quick grab for the camera, that's how these shots happen.
Do you find that "our" kids are completely blase about the many photos that get taken?
(can't do accent over the e in blase, but it's the best word for the attitude in my family)

4. You're right.
It's funny how going out with a single color in mind, suddenly it starts to jump out at you everywhere.

We should have a series of color contests like this.

And heck yes, bring on some more red shots.

11. One down - a departure from the "swamp" - funny, too. Nicely done sign and
clever decoration exc. for the arrows.

We're halfway to Hooters.

16. Jeff, what an incongruity of color. It needs Sakura on the seat :)
she would match the beautiful golden building, your photo wouldabeen a great contender.

Now - off to Hooters- on bottom right.
The letters aren't too clear. But those who know the Logo will recognize it :)

I'm throwing in a photo of the real Patch Adams (played by Robin Williams in the movie) that I took at an anti - war march in DC.
He is not looking for Hooters.

I just shot this today with my new Canon SX10: It has a function where you can highlight one color and the rest of the image is BW. Its gimmicky but fun.

Actually one of my favorite groups on Flickr is "Red Rule"

Where they say "If you see red - shoot it!"

21. Oh. My. God. The three peas are freaking me out in a very good way.
The contrast of textures just bowls me over. If you entered that you would run away with the contest, I suppose, but then you're doing that as I type with the other one. Also the way they seem so heavy, precariously perched, and basically unsupported on the right.
Congratulations.
I Bow to a Master, that is a helluva shot.

26. My favorite photos scroll as a screensaver on my computer
and this photo just came by and I realized I never considered it for "red". It's the Getty again, which opened this thread. When you turn 180 degrees from looking at the maze then you look at this.
The buildings are all made of Travertine marble in 33 " squares, the marble came over by boat from Italy.
The Getty museum is one of my most favorite places on earth, it is free to the public, and has an endowment by the Getty foundation to be run impeccably.
That's my commercial and I'm sticking to it.

you said at the start you wanted to go to the Getty Museum. Glad you saw it and like it.
I can't tell where you are - so I don't know how far it it from you to Santa Monica, LA, CA.
