Decisions decisions decisions . . . . (re: lenses not flower choices)
I finally sold my old Minolta, so I'm in the market for a new lens.

I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, both made by Sigma.

The 80/400 OS which has optical stabilization, and

The 50/500 EX HSM which does not have stabilization, but does have a longer reach and a super fast and quiet focusing motor.

Both cost about the same (the OS is just a tad more).

So, do I want the extra 100mm reach and quiet focusing, or do I want the shorter reach but the ability to handhold at slower shutter speeds. . . .

Grrrrrr. It's a tough choice to make.

1. personally, the handhold at slower speeds would
do me more good.you can almost always get 100mm closer.

2. True, that's my thinking so far too. Plus, I can use a 1.4 teleconverter
with the lens too. The stabilization would still work (but it would be manual focus at that point).
