Another Hand Study and a Love Story

There has been a bare space on a wall in the restaurant I manage which has bothered me for some time. The restaurant is located in a retirement community and is open to the public. Around 50% of our customers are retiree residents. Many of the residents have become friends including Willard and Verle. They are both 95 years old and have been married 74 years. They met while attending the local college, Willard brought gum to school and offered it to Verle. They were married in 1934. Willard farmed ground homesteaded by his father and Verle made wedding cakes, her first one being their own wedding cake. They had 4 children and only one survives.

I asked Verle if she would pose for this shot with my boss' 4 year old daughter, she agreed. The day after this shoot, Verle and Willard were moved from their apartment to the assisted living facility associated with the retirement community. The print is 24"x30", I have sold 3 additional prints since it was installed in the restaurant. My first art print sales ever!
