DU Shutter Bugs! I need your help!
Here is the link to a thread I posted earlier http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5609790&mesg_id=5609790

The thread doesn't necessarily need kicks and recs (but they're nice too) what I need is some help with some of the questions that only your expertise can answer.

Please read through and post solutions!

Thank you!

1. It is an outstanding idea

I probably can't help much, as pictures of potholes from Dopenhagen, Denmark prob wont have much relevance.

Could do some sorting, tagging and such, if needed.

Made this response in the thread as there was a mention that people needed releases for any pictured of individuals:

2. Good idea for a project
You are wondering how best to gather the pictures together in one place? Honestly it would be great to have an actual web page, I think.

Someone suggested Panoramio. That could be easily done. Everyone could put the "new new deal" tag on it, and they would all pop up. But that wouldn't give you control. Someone could take an American Flag flying over Baghdad and use that tag. Only non people pictures can go onto Google Earth.

I'm not that familiar with most photo websites.

Another interim solution would be to start a Facebook page, and get permission from people to post appropriate photos. But the best long term solution would be its own web page, and just link to it from photo sites.

I have to admit that this is off the top of my head and I have not really thought it through, and am only averagely knowledgeable about stuff like this.

Okay, mouth shut now.

3. Would not recommend Facebook.
Their rules regarding intellectual property are horrible.

Flick and a Flick group to combine them all would be an easy and accesible solution to most - and they only reserve the right to use the pictures promoting the service. Which would hardly violate the intent of the project.

Or some other service like it.

If a specific page cannot be established ofc.
