Mushroom of the Giants
Thought you may like to see this Phlebopus Marginatus - giant mushrooms found in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia

This one is part of a group that grows yearly where I walk the dogs. They decay very quickly, so you have to be there on just the right day to get a picture of one that is not starting to rot.

This one is about 18in. across and maybe 10-12 inches hight. Some more info is here: http://www.blueswami.com/phlebopus_marginatus.html

1. Amazing!
Okay I did read the link, and one source says "unknown edibility" and two other sources say edible.

Have you ever tried it?

Thanks for posting, by the way.

2. Nah
I suspect they are not poisonous but have read elsewhere that while edible they are not all that palatable. They smell OK but the yellow, spongy part under the cap stains your hands.

6. It is a boletes mushroom.
They are edible, but not desirable. Other boletes are very good, the color under the cap is the determinant, and the smaller the better.

3. Looks like it would make a comfy bicycle seat.
Well, except for the decaying part, I guess.
