1. HMMMM. I don't. I would take some of the top off the first, and come to

the left of the smallest tree, and sliver a bit off the bottom. At least if it were mine, I would look at that crop.
I am in a phase of my life where I do not do well with vertical photos, it's just me, and probably passing.
Try that crop if you feel like it and let me see it. I love the vibrancy - they are beautiful pictures.

3. It was a good sky that day. With me the middle tree cuts the image

in two, but the slope of the three trees does move the eye.

I tend to like the portrait more than landscape. I'm really not a landscape person. I like them but my photos tend to be close up. The first thing I will get when I go DSLR will be a Macro lens.

My preference for tight shots probably comes from crawling around in the hardwood forests of the east. Not many vistas in the forest.

2. I kind of agree with you about the second one

but if I'd taken either one, I'd be shoving it in people's faces and saying, "Look at this great photo I took!"

Actually I think I find the orange sky in the second makes me lean to that one, but I like the portrait orientation too.

4. I'd rather be taking close up shots of dying flowers than landscapes.

That probably comes from what I said above. Living in and around dense hard wood forests gives a person a different perspective than a person from the wide open expanses of the west.

Tweaked to bring out the look of carelessly stored clothes of a long departed aunt.

I'm a little more into vistas myself, but that may have to do with my Cannon Powershot. But I try looking at the forest floor but nothing speaks to me. I am going to have to change my perspective on things.

Your storm was beautiful. Now I love sky pictures, and those are fine ones.

5. Gorgeous sky. Love the contrast between the colors in on top and the nearly silhouetted trees.

8. The colors of the opposite horizon usually aren't washed out like those

of the western sky. From that vantage point I see more than a few displays of the "Belt of Venus." The images display the same colors as you would see in the Belt of Venus.
