The California Academy of Sciences was recently renovated, and this past weekend my wife and I took our kids there. They have a planetarium, a rain forest dome, an aquarium, and a living roof, among other things. Here are some shots I got with a Canon EOS-50D and an EF-S 18-200 3.5-5.6. The 50D does so much better than my old 10D with low-light environments.
This was taken inside the rain forest dome
Taken from a glass tunnel under a freshwater tank. This photo doesn't offer much of a sense of scale, but the fish in the foreground is somewhere close to 4 feet in length.
I'd like to think we eventually came to an understanding.
Albino Alligator
Vile, disgusting vermin, AKA the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach
Blue Whale
Diver Dan. He was wearing a microphone and answering questions from kids in the audience.
And finally, I couldn't resist getting this shot. It was in a car parked in Golden Gate Park.
