3. Yeah...
there is too much about the technical end of photography that I don't understand, Elfin Yeti. My SX200 seems to produce what I think is called a "barrel distortion" on certain shots, some quite pronounced. I'll have to do some reading to see what I can do to correct for it.

4. It's an age old problem...
I think it's called parallax. It's caused by having to point your camera upward to encompass the subject. I think the only thing you can do is shoot an object from a higher level (maybe the young lady's apartment across the street?)! There may be digital darkroom fixes but that's way outta my realm of expertise. Good luck! It's still a nice effect in your photo.
