Antietam Illuminations Photos

I don't think these are too bad, considering they were taken from a car, without a tripod or time to get the settings right.

What do you think of this tree photo as my entry for the contest?

I deleted about half the photos I took for being too shaky.

It snowed pretty good just that day, I made the utterly boneheaded decision to drive across the state to get to Antietam in the middle of the storm. Nearly killed myself on several occasions, but by the time I got to Antietam, it had stopped snowing for the most part. Obviously it was still snowing a little bit as you can see in the tree picture, but it was perfect by the time they opened up the battlefield to cars. You weren't allowed really to stop, certianly not allowed to leave your car. The best I could do was stop just long enough to focus and snap a pic. I drove with my windows down, so I wouldn't have to worry about reflections, and bundled up, lol.

3. I like the tree one,

would like to see you play with a crop so you take enough off the left to have the large white circle dead center.

I also like number 4 a lot, and the soldiers.

4. I like the tree, though I think I'd prefer a crop showing it vertically.

The last one draws me in, makes me wonder what is inside. Too bad they angled the bags (or the bags settled in the snow) to make the illumination look like spotlights, it spoils the effect a bit.

6. I like Hagerstown, it's a great town

I've been there several times to check out Wonderbooks, an excellent used book store. I live outside Annapolis, so it's a good 90 minute drive across the state to Western MD.

9. it's in the Ames Shopping Center off of Route 40

it's a great place and it's crammed from floor to ceiling with books. I've found a lot of books from the 1800s, early 1900s there, including a first edition Mark Twain book of short stories.

7. I like the soldier

I also like the last one. Maybe play around with the cropping on it, leaving only the door and left window and remove about an inch off the bottom.

Those are pretty cool shots. They evoke a sense of mystery, ghost like.
