Retrospective 2009
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 12:34 AM by Tindalos
Well, this year kind of sucked overall. Due to illness and a death in the family, I didn't take many photos. Now I've got a problem with my eye and have promised the doctor not to use the computer too much. Other than that, some really good stuff happened in-between all the bad. Here's a few pictures from this year.

First, the New Year's parade. The year started cold and wet, but the weather didn't stop the fun:

Spring brought much improved weather:

Summer found me back in England, visiting family. I was happy to find south Kent the way I remember it, full of butterflies:

Then a ferry ride to the Isle of Mull (Scotland), passing Duart Castle:

Ice fog was the closest we got to a white Christmas this year (a huge improvement over last year when we got snowed in):

One last one. I love this chair for its flagrant disregard of the rules:

Happy new year and all the best for 2010!

~Tin

1. These are a real pleasure to look at. I find myself drawn especially to
the butterfly, and the "ice fog" shots.

And that chair seems quite comfortable with its peaceful resistance to the rules! :D

Happy New Year, Tindalos! may it bring you many good things, as well as an extra measure of heart peace. :hi:

3. Thanks!!
That's a really nice selection, especially for a year that held so many challenges!

I've heard that there are special glasses people get to prevent eyestrain using computers. I haven't particularly had that problem so I haven't looked into it.

I love the chair dump shot because it so reminds me of the quirky photos you post. And the duck shot? Fabulous.

I really appreciate your posting these.

6. Happy new year, Celebration!
Thanks for your compliments.

It's a bit more than eyestrain, but hopefully it clears up on its own if I take it easy. OTOH I just bought a new MacPro and I'm sitting here alternating between 2 computers. Probably not what the Dr had in mind when he said to take breaks between computer uses. :D

7. Thanks hippywife
The castle was beautiful. I didn't manage to see the inside because it was a long walk from where I was staying, but I got lots of photos on the ferry ride. That's the "new" castle. There are some ruins nearby of an even older one.

5. Tin, these are all really special.
The duck on the wing is an especially spectacular image.

Wishing health, happiness and lots of time for photography for you in 2010!

8. Thank you, Jeff
I almost entered the duck photo for the calendar but couldn't get the cropping right. On a whim, I just tried it with a vertical crop and that improved it greatly.

All the best to you and your family in 2010, too. This year has been pretty miserable all round, so hopefully everyone fairs better next year.
