4. It seemed important to mark the occasion in a small way.

We originally had an invitation to a friend's house tonight to see in 2010. Instead, our hostess died just before Christmas. The weather was appropriately mournful today.

5. I've been mourning Annette - Tangerine all week.

And then there was a death in the family on the 22nd.
I think I understood the photos right away.

8. I'm sorry you've lost a friend, Jeff.

You're the third friend I have who's lost someone they know this holiday. One friend's grandmother died and another's father died. :(
