Alfredo has his heart set on still life, and I can understand why. This is wonderful!

4. Yeah, but signs would be a great challenge. It will force me out of the

claustrophobic world of Macro and still life.

3. thank you. That image didn't make the first cut. I then realized it is the

lid that is interesting, not the glass.

My old 5 mp camera took good images, but I would not have been able to blow up the image enough to make that composition.

5. Though it is a wonderful close up, macro, of a jar lid, and I like the

unexpected green reflection, I do not think of this as a still life photo.
I'm ready to learn, though, and here is Wikipedia's take:

I have all my life considered a still life in painting or photography as an arrangement of objects in a pleasing way, where the interrelationship and the lighting are either beautiful or startling.
I do not think of it as close-up detail photography. I think of it as flower arrangements, fruits in a bowl, or more quirky groupings. More objects than one, and not a detail of one.

So, in my mind I'll follow what Tindalos says: It's in the eye and mind of the photographer, and ultimately, the General D group will decide.

6. The green is a small glass globe inside the jar. I see this more of a Macro

than a still life. The image of the simple wine glass is a still life. The reflection and shadow are as much an element as the glass.



I'm learning as I go. My mantra is "simplify."

7. Yes, that one is a still life to me as well, for the reasons you state.

I like it very much, meant to say that a lot earlier.

8. My G10 gives some terrific results straight out of the camera. It makes good

photographs easy.
