I guess I'll just have to post some pictures of cardinals :)

Not perfect, but I am hugely cardinal challenged, plus, yes, this was through dirty glass.

Believe me, I am cardinal challenged. Not you!

Here is my attempt:

(the little suckers are elusive!)

4. that's a nice picture
But when you take a picture of a bird in a tree, and the sun is out, you do tend to get lots of shadows from the branches! Boy, do I know that from experience!! Today is the first day I have gotten halfway decent cardinal pictures.

It takes: 1. snow and ice, 2. a neighbor with a bird feeder 3. lots of birds taking turns at the feeder, and 4. a dirty kitchen window. Just snapped another...........

5. Beautiful rich color in this.
And I like the way the cardinal seems to be thinking: "What is with this frog?"

2. That top shot
looks like a Christmas card, Celebration! Very nice, even if through a window. For some reason I like the females better than the males. I guess coz they aren't as flashy. Their colors are more subtle but so much prettier.

3. I agree
I think it is because it is easier to see their features. It can be hard to see the eye on a male cardinal. One thing I have noticed taking pictures of ducks--if the duck has eyes that are easy to see, the whole picture "seems" much sharper and clearer. Really, though, it all has to do with the contrast between the eye and the surrounding feather color, and not necessarily anything to do with focus or resolution.

6. Lovely Boids! The bottom one looks like he's thinking of doing a snowboard move
...sans the snowboard. :D

7. Beautiful! Great, the red against the ice - and only today
on my walk with the camera, did I learn Cardinals are all around. Lovely shots. Poor cold birds. I'll put food out in the morning.
