1. Possible escapees....
.....from the Wizard of Oz. Put a phony mouth and eyes on these two, and it would be a stroll down The Yellow Brick Road.

2. Wow!
They're making me dizzy! Did you have to lie on the ground to get that shot? :)

3. After due consideration
I have to say I like both versions, though unsurprisingly, I think the black & white appeals a little more. Great lighting.

5. Ya know, it's weird, but
when I was doing some woodgraining and glazing on a project in Calistoga, the decorator (who was from NYC) said the light was different back East than out West; she said it was hard to explain, and at the time I thought perhaps she was just trying to explain why she was having some trouble fine tuning her color palette for the job.

However; having been on the East coast a few times now, think she is right about some subtle difference, though I, too, would be hard pressed to define it. Seems like maybe light out here is harsher sometimes.

Not that this has anything to do with your observation; it just reminded me of the conversation. :D

6. I'm sure there's truth in that.
My point of reference is that the light in South Florida is different from that in Georgia, and that both are different from the light here on the Great Lakes. Having said that, I couldn't begin to describe the differences, but I still believe it.
