8. these ducks ARE funny
There's a whole group of odd ducks there that all hang out together. None of them look alike, or like any of the other ducks!

7. An exquisite duck?
Honestly, there are so many cute ducks at Shelby Farms, the pictures are just there for the taking, you know? The one in the contest is a great blue heron, though, which means, yes, stalky! I read that they are the biggest birds native to the country. Their wing spans are as big as eagles (about three feet I think?). Unlike ducks, it is relatively rare getting a really good picture of the herons there. I think the ice got them a bit freaked.

10. Not the duck, the picture.
I don't know the animals that well, but I do know shape/form and composition. That's what I respond to, and that's what I called exquisite.
I don't get to see ducks often, this was my one time last year.
:)

11. now that is a cute duck!
I love the ripples in the water, I guess from drips off the duck!

I have to say that in all honesty, the duck gets most of the credit for my picture in the op! But I do know how to crop it to make sure it is in the middle.

Have to say that in the first two pictures I took of this duck I actually forgot to take the reflection. Ducks are pretty cooperative about being photographed, unlike herons, so I got another shot at it.

I don't know why, but ducks make me smile. They have such a ridiculous sounding call--quack! And then to get one with a silly top to his head, well that is just a big plus. All I have to do is remember to get the reflection.

Here is why it is so easy to get duck pictures there. Pretty funny, huh? Who wouldn't smile at these guys? The last one is a group fishing expedition after the ice melted.

12. Ducks, to me, look like Alan Grayson. Or like Bill Murray.
Born with a smile on their faces.
I now fully understand why you are the queen of ducks and duck photos, I would go nuts with a camera in such a setting.
Great illustration of your wealth of subjects.

16. that water is so still
no ripples at all. The duck must be sitting like a sitting duck lol

I love that perfect reflection.

My neighrborhood has brooks, canals and ponds = tons of ducks and geese. My house keeps getting bombed by those flying overhead. Currently counting a dozen splatters on the stucco and windows. Wonder what duck poop color is called? I'm to the point I can't take it off it's so dried and caked on.

18. geese poop is the WORST!!
Duck poop seems not as bad, though in a pinch I am not sure if I could tell one type from another. At least the ducks seem to keep their poop in the grass instead of the asphalt path.

The pond is really, really high. And only rarely is it that still. It looked a bit muddy as well. That and the "hat" were the bonuses.
