At risk of doing the backyard birds to death...
I know it's just a common blue jay, but they move pretty fast. This one was a little bit of a ham.

1. Great closeup!
That is truly outstanding detail.

Not sure I have ever been THAT close to a bluejay, but I'm not really sure that I care to. My husband claims he feared being injured by blue jays when he was on a jog. Apparently he must have run by a nest.

I have a feeling we'll see a bunch more birds as the spring progresses(one can hope). I actually got a picture of a woodpecker today, but not really a closeup. It's getting to be a pretty good time to get some pictures, because there are no leaves on the trees to hide the birds.

I'm getting a bit sick of some robins. Robins were chasing the bluebirds all over the trees in Shelby Farms the other day.

5. Not exactly my backyard but...
pretty close. Maybe you guys can help me. The camera I use doesn't have enough 'oomph' for some of these far away pics. Is there a way to make it bigger digitally and not lose quality?

6. As a rule, post-processing can't create detail that isn't in the original.
I was always taught that in Photoshop you can scale down, but never scale up. A plug-in for the program called Genuine Fractals claims to have the capacity to scale up, but Photoshop was expensive enough that I couldn't justify spending even more on this tool. It's bad enough that Adobe gets me for another $200 every couple of years just to keep their program up to date.
