Playing with fire
Here's a few I took last week while at Granville Island. First up is a juggler. I only caught the last couple minutes of his performance so these were the best of the meager few shots I was able to take.

Here's him juggling torches. While standing on a skateboard. A skateboard balanced on a suitcase. (The suitcase was on top of something else that I couldn't see - I was at the back of the crowd.)

Mmmmm.... Love that smoky flavour.

After the fire eater, I happened to come across a glass art studio. Here's a piece being taken out of the furnace.

And being worked on. My apologies for the reflections - I was shooting at glass through glass.

Not sure exactly what the finished piece looked like but its shape was pretty much what you see coming out of the furnace - somewhat bomb-like.

1. Juggling fire sticks
while on a skateboard - wow!

I've always wanted to try glass blowing, I too have seen glass blowers in action, and it's not only art, but as you captured, performance art too, that is, when the artist allows to be captured.

3. Definitely performance art...
I've always wanted to try it as well (glass blowing, not juggling fire - on or off a skateboard). There weren't too many windows but they were almost all occupied by spectators. There's a window just to the right of the photo and three on the side I was on. The window visible in the photo is the only one without people peering in. I didn't really have the "prime spots" for viewing but I'm happy with what I did manage to get.

4. *groan*
And some people think my puns are bad... :P

I do wish I had arrived earlier for the juggling. As it was, I pretty much got there, he did his last minute of juggling, then extinguished the torches - the first two by "eating" the fire, the last one just blowing it out. I imagine he was much more energetic at the beginning of the act.

There are some things I really don't understand--walking on hot coals is one of them, and swallowing fire is another.
