Theater restored as a "ruin"

I like very much how much of this theater was left in a semi ruined state when it was "restored". The walls in places are somehow reminiscent of frescoes from Pompeii.

It's the Harvey Theater at the BAM in Brooklyn, where we were doing a production of Charpentier's "Actéon", together with Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas"

1. Gorgeous colors

Is this the stage, with the reflection back into the seats? In any case, I love this photo. It confuses, delights, and is very aesthetically pleasing. If I was near Brooklyn, I would go to see it.

6. Yes, it's the stage with a large mirror reflecting the seats in the theater.

7. Just now saw this! it fills out the experience of the theatre. Great! it shows me

they were extremely deliberate in preserving the ambiance and presence of the old, yet they made the rest worthy of a healthy admission price.

2. Very Pompeian; and very pleasing to the eye, as Celebration noted...

If that is paint on those walls, then I imagine it is the old, white-lead-based oil variety which produced such wonderful, truly "flat" finishes. I ran across this type of paint on many restorations during my painting days; it ages with such a nice patina, too bad it turned out to be so toxic.

3. Georgous color and trippy shot from the mirror.

Kind of reminds me of Pink Floyd in a way. Before Roger Waters got weird.

Extremely painterly. The walls remind me of the puddles at Yellowstone. Isn't it interesting how everybody's filters and life experience brings out different perspectives.
