Any new ideas for determing the final 10? I'm considering something completely different.

I started calling this thing a "challenge". It really isn't a contest. Don't know if it'll catch on but I thought I'd try to start a revolution and get the name changed.

Let's experiment. Try different things. Since it isn't the "official" monthly contest "screwing up" is totally acceptable.

I'm looking forward to submitting something, but I have no idea what. .

Whether it's a challenge or a contest, it's really just an excuse to share our work with each other and the rest of DU. It's all about fun and doing we something really enjoy.

I look at it more as an exhibit, like what you see in art galleries on special nights.

And, BTW, I agree with changing the name of these things from "contests" to "challenges."

4. How bout' this as something different to try?

Dialup is a huge problem with the challenges/contests. How bout' I use a medium "compressed" photo for the Voting Threads to significantly reduce dialup time and give the Voter the option to view a larger version of the photo by clicking on a link below it?

Edit: This would remove the dimension and file size guidelines and people could enter any size they want.

5. Update. If you weren’t confused before……

Please Note: Everyone who "officially" entered a photo will be in the "Main" Big Ten Photo Challenge thread.

With only a modified bakers dozen of actual people participating I decided that it would be silly to have 2 prelim threads of 11-12 total just to narrow it down to 10. So, here’s how it will go down:

There will be a “Big Ten” Main Challenge thread started in the Lounge to determine the winner(s) of the “Hot Days of Summer” Challenge. In addition there will be an “Exhibition” Challenge voting thread that will be started here in the Photo Group to include the additional photos submitted and to include a latecomer or two.

If you haven’t entered a photo yet or if you’ve only entered ONE photo you can enter a photo that will be put in the “Exhibition” voting thread. Still have room for 4-6 more depending upon how my begging and pleading goes.

Does that make sense? One thread for the MAIN Challenge and then a sort of a “best of show” type Exhibition thread. Main in Lounge. Exhibition here with link to it from the lounge.
