These are a few of the photos from the drive back to Anchorage from Valdez.
These were taken looking two different directions from Thompson Pass on the Richardson Highway. This area gets an incredible amount of snowfall in the winter, averaging over 500 inches per year (41 feet) and is frequently closed until it can be plowed out. This is a famous world-class snowboarding area.
This is Worthington Glacier, also in the Thompson Pass area. Notice the little people on the rock and climbing on the glacier.
This is the lake at the base of Worthington Glacier
This is Matanuska Glacier northeast of Anchorage
The last leg of our trip was over our old favorite, Hatcher Pass (where the Independence Mine photos were taken a couple months ago). This is Summit Lake at - surprise! - the summit.
On the way down we stopped for about 15 minutes and picked these (out-of-focus) wild blueberries, food from the gods for bears and humans.
