In memory of Cheyenne Lee
Edited on Sun Aug-29-10 10:10 PM by JeffR
I know nothing about women's shoes, but I'm pretty sure Chey would not have worn these. Still, seeing them set out on a rainy sidewalk made me think of her, and how eight months ago, suddenly and mysteriously, she was no longer here.

1. My dear JeffR...
What a very poignant pic...

Is Cheyenne Lee your friend who collapsed and died mysteriously some months ago?

That was horrible...

Thank you for this picture, and for remembering her...

2. Yes, the same, Peggy.
For reasons I can't identify, I've had discussions about her and dreams about her recently that all but bring her back. When I saw this little street vignette, I thought of her as I was snapping away. This photo was for her before it was taken.

And thank you.

3. So sorry about your friend,
and you'll find for quite some time, she'll pop into your thoughts for a visit.

This photo is a nice tribute. Although she may not have worn those shoes, I know that she would have loved the photo.

Hang in there . . .

4. That is a nice photo!!
I'm not sure what I think about the wet shoes. Vintage Kinney Stores? I imagine that you thought about your deceased friend because she, too would have noticed them, and wondered about them, and had the same reaction as you. She too would have appreciated the photo. Obviously, she is still around you. At some point you may find out why, or you may not. But, in any case, there is a reason. and know that and take comfort from it.

7. Thanks, all! Had to make myself scarce
as work has been running full-tilt the past couple of days.

I'm glad this photo seemed to have some sort of reach beyond the sentimental connotations I attached to it. Strangely, we don't feel as horrible as we might about Cheyenne, though we loved her and miss her vivid presence in the world.

It's as if she simply disappeared one morning, and we're all just confused about that. That's what these shoes in the rain made me think of.
