Regarding reflections contest

I just wanted to touch base with all of you and let you know that the contest will eventually run. I don't even think that people would be interested in the contest even if the polls were up and running, considering how emotional we are over the latest white house crime.

So once things settle down on DU, I will promote the remainder of the first round for a full day, giving at least 24 hours to those who have not voted.

Then we will proceed to the next round.

5. Why not a tribute to New Orleans for September Contest?

I have some cool OLD photographs from back in the early 80s I could enter. Sure people have others. Could be a nice tribute to an amazing city that will rebound somehow, someway...

... so people don't think it has to actually be OF New Orleans. Folks can get creative. Or not. I can think of cajun food, Dixieland Jazz, and a bunch of ways to present that them. (I just wish I could take photos to match my mediocre imagination.)

8. "Spirit of New Orleans" is a great idea.

(As was 48percenter's original idea.) Seattle has a Fremont Neighborhood Festival that is much in the spirit. Maybe two compilations if there are enough contributions.
