Three black & whites from September, from a rare sojourn uptown.

1. Very nice. Cities are made for black and white. I like the

choice of a slow shutter speed in the first image.

4. Thanks, alfredo. It worked out since I was in aperture priority at f/8.

The shot was 1/40 of a second at 400 ISO. Wouldn't have worked as well if the driver had been doing the speed limit.

2. Love that first one

Speed (and a game of chicken?) juxtaposed against a quiet neighborhood.

Hare Krishna has taken over a church? How interesting.

The more I look at that first one, the more I like it.

5. The church was being sold by the Methodists, I think. A mystery buyer

emerged victorious, at which point it was revealed that he was acting on behalf of ISKCON. Quite an uproar from what I've read.

In the first one, the car in the distance was also headed away (it's a one-way street), but it looks as though it might be approaching. The effect was a happy accident.

are haunting.

If we had a black and white autumn contest, the first one would be PERFECT!

8. Inspiring!

I like the church a lot - the clouds have an equal footing presence - it makes me vacillate in what to study in the photo. Favorite is the third. It's disorienting in the way you framed it, the light in the windows is a bit illogical, the diagonal is strong - and on top of all that - it has a stairway.
Well done.

I found, yesterday, how to set my camera to take B/W from the onset. (no comments please, I never looked, did not know it could do that)
Then I took a few photos and realized the quality of the color is superior to what happens with a simple turning it to b/w in Picasa.

So I'll be posting some black and whites soon that I purposely intended as such, and I thank you for having been an inspiration to me along those lines.
