Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Here's some new photos for you.

I've missed weeks' worth of good stuff here, to my chagrin. Seven day a week work schedule and a bathroom reno will do that.

Caught a break Tuesday when a hearing went down at the last minute. Since I wasn't making any money that day I decided to go and spend some instead. All photos with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L, shot an hour or so after I bought it.

6. The Palm House turned 100 this year.

It's been augmented with additional wings several times. The newest addition was some lovely old university greenhouses which were going to be demolished.
Someone saw sense and they were moved here instead.

Your photos are gorgeous as usual. Glad you caught a break. Okay the fourth one is outstanding. Not sure what that plant is exactly, but the curlicues against the straight lines is really mesmerizing. Have fun with the new equipment! Maybe you have inspired me to give myself a Christmas present. ;)

8. WYSIWYG

I'm not militantly anti-cropping, but I never do it anymore unless I have to rotate an image a few degrees and need to crop out the borders the rotation creates. I figure if the framing isn't right straight from the camera, then the shot just isn't a keeper. YMMV, of course.

4. Beautiful

I really like the first one and the first street scene. All are good. The first one really yanks on my eyes. Keeps the eyes hanging out for a long time. Very well done.

9. Thanks, postatomic. I tried that first one from a number of angles

and focal lengths. It was sort of a murky day, but the light did nice things with the glass from that angle.

5. congratulations on the 24-105L

Are you using a crop sensor camera or full frame? I'd love to get either the 24-70L or the 24-105L, but I'm shooting with a 50D, and some are of the opinion that you're wasting money with either of these lenses on a crop sensor, since much of the expense of the lens comes from engineering edge sharpening that wouldn't come into play on a crop sensor.

I like the interior shot of the rotunda. Nice pictures all around, JeffR.

10. These are with an XTi.

I was thinking of moving to a full frame camera, but just haven't made a convincing case to myself that I need one. If I change my mind, at least I'll have this lens on hand, and some others I'm very fond of.

Nearly opted for the 24-70L, but the IS and the extra reach on this one won me over. Despite being an f/4, I got some amazingly sharp photos at longish shutter speeds on a dark afternoon. Been shooting mostly with primes for the past year or so, but I doubt I'll be heading anywhere without bringing this lens along now.
