1. I figured out how to get up to 1000 post points really quick

Just type "K&R" on everything. Don't understand the electorate. A photo that kicks ass in a particular group hardly gets a nod in the Final thing. I really liked the Midnight Flight. Wanted you to replace mine with that one. Understand the logistics makes it difficult.

2. You hang around and you will learn

all kinds of idiotsyncracies that don't seem to make sense, and you will learn that it is impossible to predict anything.

3. Happens quite often

It's difficult to predict what will happen in GD. Everybody's aesthetic is a bit different.

7. It's just baffling

How can photo A get more votes than photo B in the first round but then photo B gets more votes than photo A in the final thing? I guess it varies everytime you jumble up the photos.

8. I remember a couple of years ago

one of my photos came in 1st in its prelim thread and came in last in the finals. I guess it didn't have staying power. :-)

The deck gets reshuffled for the finals and I guess that makes it a whole new game.

That happened to me recently with a picture of three dogs nose to nose, which won by a mile in the preliminary round. I have to say, though, that I was a little surprised it placed so well in the preliminaries. Then, I think even the second and third place pictures in the same prelim thread with me beat out my dogs picture in the final, and I ended up in last place. :rofl:
