First day of the year. First snow. First shots with new D300. I couldn't find the B&W menu on the camera (I know it's there somewhere) so I converted in PhotoShop. The second scene is definitely better in B&W, but I can't make up my mind about the first one.

1. Of the first two, I like the color better.

I like the way all the lines lead to the group of trees in the upper right corner.

2. I like the first B&W shot best; feels medieval to me, in a way I could never possibly explain

Not sure that's a description that ever would have occurred to me.

4. That's probably why I could never really explain it.

But it is the feeling I get when looking at it. I really like it in Black and White. :D

5. In the first two shots, I see rows of crosses on a hill in Golgatha.

I should never have gone to seminary! :banghead: But maybe that's what gives the shot the medieval feeling Adsos was talking about. :shrug:

Needless to say, I much prefer the last photo. I really love the composition of it. I'd also love to see it in color.

6. First One!! Color!!

Because it is barely color, yet it stands out. I have to say sometimes I have no opinion on things like this, but I have to vote my strong preference for the color shot, and I think it is fabulous.

8. NOW the second one speaks "Battle of the Bulge" to me...

...I'm gonna' have to take the influence of my recent reading into account, I think. :beer:
