10. I tried to do something others probably won't do.
I have a snowball's chance in hell, but I wanted a different hand held, low light, low tech type of image.

I used IR emulation and tweaks to WB and curves.

44. Oh GIRL! I admire yours a lot - a whole lot - and wonder just how you did that,
gorgeous colors, and perfect pos and neg space.

Mine: It's Lucas. A dog whose owners in Marathon in the Keys take him there every evening at sunset, and he stands in the water motionless like that.
ONCE he caught a fish.
Once.

Honestly, I had posted it to hold the space. I figured nobody but me would love that picture as much as I do. I was going to go through maybe 7 more that were still left over to chose from. I just LOVE water and I swim several times a week after work.

Now I think Lucas stays. You convinced me.
Maybe I post the others when the slots are filled.

45. It was in the tropical plant section...
at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. They have some hanging plants as you walk in and some water dripping over them into a pool. The pool is too dimly lit to get an interesting shot so I took some shots of the leaves and gradually extended the time the shutter was open until I got a few I liked and this was the best of those. Like a waterfall but smaller.
BTW, I'm a sucker for a beautiful sunset.

The title was by default, really. I considered a generic "Landscape from Yosemite" or some such, but that didn't do much for me... I tried to figure out which specific waterfall it was, but couldn't identify it for sure... I hate titles!

23. Yeah, that session changed the way I approach subjects.
They would have been better vote getters than what I have entered, but that's OK.

Our relationship with water is so primal. If there was a god, it would be either the sun or water. Both gave birth to and sustain us. Feeling water on the skin is communing with God.

The character in "The Secret Sharer" was not really swimming, he was deep in thought. He was immersed in thought as the swimmer was immersed in water.

Feeling the water on my hand made me pick up my camera yesterday. I wasn't sure I could make visible what I was feeling.

The Water is wide- Karla Bonoff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EfHZtCKJGY

The water is wide, I cannot get oer
Neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row, my love and I

A ship there is and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not so deep as the love I'm in
I know not if I sink or swim

I leaned my back against an oak
Thinking it was a trusty tree
But first it bent and then it broke
So did my love prove false to me

I reached my finger into some soft bush
Thinking the fairest flower to find
I pricked my finger to the bone
And left the fairest flower behind

Oh love be handsome and love be kind
Gay as a jewel when first it is new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like the morning dew

Must I go bound while you go free
Must I love a man who doesn't love me
Must I be born with so little art
As to love a man who'll break my heart

When cockle shells turn silver bells
Then will my love come back to me
When roses bloom in winter's gloom
Then will my love return to me

31. After the re-size she can send the new image to the page
where it is parked. The page will ask if she wants to replace the old image with the new. As long as she doesn't change the file name she won't have to repost. It will automatically re-size when she refreshes the page.

48. Only once, but I don't remember when, have I seen a submission thread fill up
this fast. I think the subject of "Water" was long overdue.

As I see these wonders come in, one by one, and if I close my eyes, I have a premonition of the voting threads to come:
"OH MY GOD - these are all so great"
"I can't vote now, it's too hard"
"It's so wrong that we can only vote for just one"
"You all are soooo talented"
"Best photos ever"
and on and on it goes.

And we will rightfully be proud of ourselves and each other.
Actually, not since "Green" have I seen so many that resemble perfection in my estimation.

We are such a fun and talented and homogeneous group.
I'm proud to be part of it.

71. I still get intimidated by the talent in the group. :)
I feel like a poser in a group of actual photographers at times. But that's just my baggage...everyone is super nice and helpful.

I won a GE digital camera in a holiday drawing. Been playing around with it a little. Haven't really gone out to shoot yet. Just around the house and from the balcony. Got an OK shot of a pigeon in a snow-covered tree.

I'm thinking about getting some 'toy' cameras. (Holga/Diana)

72. I love the flower, too. I've wanted to see a contest for "reflection".
