1. I for some strange reason have 2 both for my theodolite. From the 40's
maybe earlier. I have two fixed Mahogany tripods.

Does fixed mean the elevation can't be changed? Inquiring minds need to know.

I have my father's wooden tripod. I wouldn't believe the hype about the one pictured. They are no more or less sturdy than a metal one, and they're a hell of a lot heavier.
