The sun made an appearance during
Fitz's news conference and I didn't want to miss it, but I really really wanted to try out the infrared filter. So I set the camera up on a tripod and took a couple pictures out of the window. I am going to love playing around with infrared. (See what you started Gordon?} Anyway here are the results. I have a lot to learn but this looks like it is going to be fun.

I have already learned that you have to set up the shot, focus, turn off auto focus, put the lens on then shoot. You can not see anything once the filter is on.

What they look like on the camera lcd and when first opened.

Once you remove the color red you get...

Now I need a few days of bright sunny weather and off work so I can go try while actually setting up a decent composition etc.

3. Now we're talkin'

I've come up with some "decent" faux infrareds... but these are 2 friggin kewl. I'll be shootin' infrared film with filter when we go exploring eastern pennsylvania and new jersey later in the month.

Have some locales mapped out. Old cemeteries and Old Buildings. Hopefully I'll have some "better than decent" snaps to share in December.

Again. I'm really impressed. And you did your homework. I just loooovvvee the effect. Takes B&W to a whole new level.

4. Have you practiced with the
film yet? That is one thing I figured out fast, practice.

Also there is a test you can do to see if your digital can take infrared. Get someone to point a remote at your camera and snap it at a slower shutter speed while watching. If you can see a light on the remote a filter will let you do IF with your digital.

And where in eastern PA? I'm only a mile from the PA line. Not far from Lancaster or Oxford.
