"Our mission is to change photography forever..."
A camera that allows you to change the focus after the photo has been taken? And can do 3D with a single lens? More here.

:wow:

2. They said the same thing about APS
There is another mention of this topic here:

There are various software programs that do essentially the same thing now.

When this technology was developed awhile back none of the big camera manufacturers jumped on it. Why? I have a ton of questions about this new technoblap. How does it meter? And what kind of optics will it use? Since you aren't really controlling aperture or shutter speed the only thing you would be doing is controlling the focal length of the lens. This suggests that you'll need to purchase the camera and special lenses.

It is really nothing more than a creative gimmick. Is a portrait or wedding photographer going to dump the thousands of dollars they have invested in equipment for this new tech? Doubtful.

And let's be honest here. How many people with cameras out there actually care about being creative?

I go back to the metering part. Okay, you can take a picture at f/45 (and everything below that), but how does it do with complex lighting? Highlights. Shadows. Stuff like that. Maybe you can control shutter speed.

It's a cool technoblap. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out in the real world.

3. I should do a better job at reading
Start-up camera maker Lytro promises that before the end of the year you will be taking pictures without worrying about pesky details such as focus, lighting, shutter speed and exposure.

I wonder if they'll include an Ansel Adams effect. Will they have a 'composition alert' warning light?

5. I see tourists in Times Square

using cameras that obviously have actual viewfinders but instead they us the damn lcd panel. How do you compose a picture by holding the camera out in front of you and pressing the shutter button. I guess I'm just old school. Now processing an image after I take it - yeah I see that differently. The software is just a digital darkroom. You have to have a decent image to start with because the software is great but the best software is your own skills as a photographer in the first place.

4. This is too funny. Update from developer of new "camera"
Its creator, Ren Ng (pronounced "ing") was inspired to make the camera when he found he couldn't capture properly focused pictures of his friend's five-year-old daughter.

So, a person who takes shitty snapshots of a five year old is going to "change photography forever". Yea. Whatever. :eyes:
