my weekend in Vermont
I want to just say that I am so very grateful to the State of Vermont for their wonderful health care system and access to it and I gladly pay my taxes. My daughter had surgery this past weekend... while not life threatening, she has suffered cronic pain and/or discomfort; her life will be much improved now. If she had been in most any other state, this likely would not have been possible.

1. I. Am. So. Choked.Up I don't get to the edge of tears often
but this did it. Beautiful and poignant and non-invasive of her privacy, and you are conveying hope and gratitude along with the worrisome passage of time.
These photos are a chock full story.

I hope both of you are A OK.

4. she's home alone in Vermont
and I am stuck in LA... I worry but she is tough like me!

Since I didn't make the finals in the photo contest, I will share this photo I took of her at our old swimming hole in Danville, Vermont. I call it "Forces of Nature"

2. very nice series
I have a friend who had breast cancer about twenty years ago. When she moved back here she got Tenn Care, which is not single payer but highly government subsidized private insurance. Yep, it came back, but she is fine today because of this Medicaid funded program. I wish everyone was covered by plans like this.

Anyway, you depicted every aspect of your family experience in a very moving way. Honestly I tried to do kind of the same thing once when my husband had an operation and I didn't come close to what you did. So kudos for using your creativity to make the most of the situation and conveying the feeling of what you all experienced.

3. access to good health care
is so important to us as a society... I got pictures of all the more than awesome nurses and assistants but do not often post photos of people unless they give explicit permission or or totally anonymous to me. B-)

one I didn't post from the walk... my new kitchen sink! Just have to wait until I get back to Vermont to build a new kitchen counter and put it in... getting it out was truly a time of bonding for me, my son, son's friend and daughter's partner (fun story that will surely go into my book)
