got the new lens
took the new lens out today.. Im going to have to start working out,its heavier than hell.
all of these are with teh lens and a 2x teleconverter making it a 240-600mm f5.6 zoom

d7000, right? makes it on the top end about 900 with the crop factor

i have a 150-500 that i use with a 1.4 Tc for a top end of 1050 also.

Is that a shoveler in photo #4. We see a form of shoveler up here nesting in the spring.

So what size lens did you get, minus the teleconverter? The big zooms really can get heavy ... I have a Canon 70-200 2.8 L lens and a 100-400 L, both of which make my arms ache after a while, but they take such wonderful photos, I put up with it.



ed. Never mind. 120-300, right? That's a nice range.

hopefully im goign to have a chance to go to pedernales state park to the bird blind and work on my long lens techniques
im trying to eliminate camera shake,even on a tripod.
it tougher than I thought :)

9. Do you also weigh down the tripod?
I hang my camera bag, pretty heavy, on a hook I put on the center rod.
