2. Good choice, actually.

Watersports and summer seem almost too obvious - there's a strong association between the two.

Baseball, on the other hand? Not as much of an association with summer - plus baseball can be played during the spring or fall (or even winter, in some climates).

24. Don't talk to me about extreme heat...

The rest of the country might be sweltering but, here in the Northwest, it's only now beginning to reach summer temperatures, after a long winter. I'm just glad that I can't enter this contest, because my standard destination for summer shooting in August is Mount Rainier and the wildflower fields around Paradise. Well, forget that -- those wildflower fields are still under several feet of snow. I'm really wondering if we're going to have the truly odd phenomenon of the wildflowers up there hitting full bloom just as the leaves are turning autumn colors this time around. It might be a unique photo opportunity, but I'd like a more extended shooting season on the mountain this year, particularly after I had to miss peak bloom last year because I was in Wyoming at the time.

4. The shots are so very summery. I can at times see the heat shimmer.
I have some favorites, but the one that is outstanding to me is Alfredo's little girl. It is rare to have a fore-shortened shot as in the hand to the body work so well. Masterful.

17. Thanks - occasionally I like to try back lit.
I wanted to enter a carnival scene, but it was at the end of May, which is not summer.

19. We wouldn't have known it was spring. It isn't just the backlighting that
Makes it special. The colors, the composition and sharpness all contribute. Be ready to host the fall contest.

20. I try to be honest.
I thought about it long and hard and decided to go with a flower that blooms in the summer when all others seem to have gone to seed.

There are very good photos in this contest - any could win :-)

22. Here I am, back again
A little older and the worse for wear, lots and lots of running back and forth to Papeete for tests and pokes/stabs needles and tests. Still no cancer and now I am past the first 2 years since they took over half my colon out and sent me back to Paradise to get well or what ever.... Well the get well seems to be working and even tho I am pushing the mid 70 mark I still can climb mountains if I take my time. Coming down is easy but it takes over a day to get to the top and I have a climb happening in about a week that I plan on spending 4 or 5 days shooting our Sacred Mountain.... More on that later.... For now I wanted to submit something for your summer, here it is as close as we ever get to winter... But you called it and I played it and what you see in Tiare A'hi'a is what you get. I was out in the jungle looking for something to shoot and there was, in the dimness this flash of hot pink that said "Take my picture".. It's my story and I'm stickin to it!

27. Thanks to the three of you also
I have missed this wonderful group, and most of all I have missed you Mira, Mz Pip, and you also Solly Mack, I promise I will not stay away as long again.... My wife is in the Hospital in Papeete, she has a severe eye infection and they are treating her there. She had to go there for tests that were going to be taken and immediately placed on a flight to France and the big labs there to find out what is causing it. She will get out on Thursday and come home to Raiatea possibly on Friday. In the mean time I am sorta running around in circles....
