Last and then I'll shut up a while - maybe
My Dad: Preacher, Methodist, Democrat, Activist, Hunger Striker to the end- last time it was about the hostages in Iran at the time of Reagan's inauguration. German fundamental Christian who taught me from an early age: When someone keeps professing they are a Christian, beware, and hide.

Also: accomplished b/w photographer, published.

I learned tonight, talking to my Mom, that he was arrested for a short while and incarcerated by the American occupiers in post world war II Germany because they caught him at the forbidden corner of the bomb shelter. He was training binoculars and had a small camera at the one opening to the street where one could watch the Americans take over the town.

I think it explains a few things about me.
:)
There is much more about him that was courageous at that gravid time in history. But this one I had not heard about before. So I tell.

stories of the past and that you write them down (like you did here) and share them with your guys. I used to try to get my Uncles to record my grandmother telling stories of her past but they never did. They aren't even writing or telling all the ones they were told as they grew up. Now that they are in their 70's on up to 90's and we lost 2 of the older the history is disappearing.

My Uncle Robert was in Germany in WWII but he wouldn't talk about it. I know very little of what he did. My FIL was also there and he said Germany was one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen. That is all he had to say about it. It is frustrating sometimes but more sad that the history is lost. Both hare no longer with us.)
