Takin' Mama for a Ride
As you can see it looked innocuous enough - a helluva ride it was though - Mom was up for it - a tropical squall surprised the entire boat full of people - we got SOAKED - and I will spare you the scene of drying Mom's top and bra under the hand dryer in the bath room at the dock.

3. Transparent acrylic bag, doubled over, behind my feet, under the seat. And yes
it was an amazing ride.

7. I had a friend that raced Cigarette Boats in the Bahamas.
He was always a bit nuts.

10. No, he's the one that built "God's Tear" then sailed it
across the Atlantic.

11. I think I would have asked if I could come along. Did you?
I got to go lots of places once I realized I could brazenly ask. Then all I needed to do is graciously accept a yeah or neah, which of course is the prerogative of the other party.

12. I didn't know he did it until I saw him on CBS news.
He was lost at sea for 140 days. He lived on rainwater and fish. One night when he was sleeping his boat crashed ashore in Ireland. Everything was lost, including his logs. He survived because he had his survival suit on. He climbed the 300 ft cliff and fell asleep on top. A lighthouse keeper found him.

He was an Army spook stationed in Asmara with me. We had some great and scary times together. I nearly died several times with him. That's what friend do.

13. Oh Alfredo. Where does the photo come from, it is utterly captivating? He looks much like some of
my cooky relatives. About what you are saying, the rest must be silence, because it overwhelms me.

14. I took that picture with my trusty Pentax Spotmatic. Wayne
was out of the service by then, but he stuck around for a while to restore some old Italian cars he was sending back to the US.

And gutsy....I see the similarity between you and her, gutsy and up for new adventures.

Boat ride must have been a hoot, shower or no.

15. How fun!
Your mom reminds me a lot of mine. I took her quad riding on the Pismo Beach dunes when she about your mom's age. We thought we lost her when she went flying over a dune, but she blasted out the other side of the bowl with a grin from ear to ear!

Thanks for sharing these snapshots of your adventures with your mom, it brings back fond many fond memories.
