Flying - adventures in zone focusing.
Glad I had a wide depth of field. This was right on the edge of the trash bin.

3. Good timing.
A little panning would help with the motion blur, but it would change the nature of the shot by swapping the blur of the skater to the background. Depending on the desired outcome....

4. I did sequential shooting. I'm still haven't gotten my chops back. It's been
A long time since I've used full manual. When I got back to the US I dropped out and left my old life behind. The military will do that to you.

7. Gosh alfredo, great shot!
Being at the right spot at the right time is half the battle, but then comes great execution . . . and here is a super example!

In addition to this being a great shot, I too admire that shadow!

Everything about this photo is spot on!

9. Thanks. Three frames per second increased my odds getting something.
Out of my time there, I got seven useable images.

I shot at ISO 400, f8 or f11, I don't remember the speed, but it was fast enough to freeze the action. I had to have a good depth of field because You don't know where on the ramp they will appear. It might have been easier with a wide angle, but all I had was a 56mm lens (28mm with 2X crop).

10. The shadow was extra credit. I was so
intent on catching some action, I didn't even think of the shadow.

Thanks.

11. The shadow is more than a bonus. It makes it for me. I have not seen one that
perfect that I remember. Really amazing.

It absolutely makes the photo. I love it that it came out that way even though it wasn't planned. This is an awesome shot.
