6 years ago - Katrina struck in New Orleans - I've been a bit maudlin today thinking back
and looking over my photos from July in NOLA I found this one to celebrate the spirit of New Orleans.

1. And we're rolling...rolling...rolling on the river

I have been to your spot (the pic) several times...some trips I even remember!

2. This is fun! Isn't it - to see a spot you yourself know. I now could not find it again.
The women hammed it up for me after I waved for permission to take a few shots.

Here, just for you, are 2 I took off the Natchez on the mighty Miss'ssippi where our own Bluedigger, my friend Lea and I took a dinner cruise together.

3. Very nice!
You know, I lived 12 blocks from the Aquarium, which is where the Natchez docked, and I never went on the boat?! Every time we planned to do it, it was either closed or something popped up last minute. I wanted to take it to the zoo and then ride back. I thought that would be cool!

5. I love the second one
That's the soul of New Orleans AKA "Nawlins"

6. Thanks, I like it too. I went to get another one for you
but the urban decay on the shore, and the obvious lack of money in the upkeep of the ships made me sad again. So I grabbed another moon shot for you.

I have some potential dibs on a free ride back to NOLA - I did not get finished seeing all I need to see. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

7. That's beautiful
I crossed that bridge many times when I lived there. Urban decay / neglect can be beautiful, albeit depressing too.

This is what I remember 6 months after.

Your photos give me hope it's coming back.

4. My favorite restaurant was here (when I lived there)
This was 6 months after Katrina & 13 years after I left. Swamprat & I had A few drinks at Cooter Brown's (well maybe more than a few), but it was a disheartening trip. I'm glad that things are finally, maybe, coming back.
