1. I have a hands shot but I used it already.

3. You asked: my answer is that
Tina Modotti wins.
Next Idea?

(Just kidding of course. I think it would be a challenge. I think we like challenges).

7. that would be a great idea
Look at how Yousuf Karsh uses hands in his images.

Classical painters used the hands to say something about the subject.

8. Ahhhhhh . . . but this may
involve a model which may be difficult for some members. Just an observation, that's all.

9. It doesn't have to.
I took this of my own hands for a project. It wasn't easy, but I did it anyway.

11. It is a very intimate subject
And not the type of photo I generally take. I would be more likely to take a photo of a person, and the hands happen to be prominent in the photo, but maybe unintentionally. Older hands may have more character, but I tend to like the carefree hands of my grandchild. Of course he happens to be the handiest model. People tend to be cautious with their hands but kids use their hands to express themselves.

Since I won't have another opportunity for a photo like this in the next ten days, I will wait until the very end to submit it, if there are not thirty photos entered.

Here is the only shot of a hand I have been moved to purposely photograph. It is my hand, making the sign language sign of love and gratitude. I was inspired by a seminar I took in the Lifeline technique. It is far too stylized and modified to use in the contest, though.

12. Both of these touch my heart, actually.
And both IMO would be appropriate.

13. Thank you, the second one is way too altered for the contest
The first one is appropriate, and I will consider entering it if there are enough spaces at the end of the entry period. I want everyone that shoots a new shot to enter first.

I realize now that I have also taken purposeful shots of my hand in various mudra positions, also altered and in black and white. They are a bit strange. ;)
