If you are considering the Sony NEX7, read this review.
Steve Huff does real world reviews. You won't see graphs, stats, and studio shots. This camera could really change the mirrorless market, and maybe cannibalize the DSLR market. I think 24mp is excessive, 20mp would have been enough for an APS-C sensor.

It is a lovely camera, the camera I expected from Sony's design team. Sony might be an "evil giant" but they seem to be willing to listen to the desires of the customers. Looks like their willingness to take design risks has paid off this time.

OK, let's see what Olympus, Panasonic, Nikon, and Canon has as a response.

1. There's also the A77, with the same feature set built into a standard DSLR body...
I have one of those on pre-order; unfortunately, it seems my pre-order wasn't early enough to entitle me to one of the first production run of cameras before the factory got destroyed in the flooding. :-( So, who knows when I'll actually have it in hand...

3. The A77 looks terrific.

I forgot to add my praise for its high burst rate 12fps. That makes it perfect for action and photojournalism. You might lose a bit of light with the translucent mirror, but the loss of a half or a third stop is no big thing in my opinion.

2. I printed out the whole thing, half a ream,
and am plowing through it wishing I had your understanding of what I'm reading.
By the way, I had to get my laptop fixed, and the woman at the apple place was ENTHRALLED with my screen saver photo of yours: the glorious Mums.

I like that you bring to us the news in the industry. Also: I was in the Ritz camera store yesterday, and the Manager's eyes lit up when I mentioned the SonyNex7.

:)

4. Thank you. I went out and did a bunch of macro yesterday.

I am so sore today.

The nice thing about Steve Huff's reviews is his real world use reviews. He doesn't get al wonky on us. Some of the technical terms are used out of necessity, but he tries to keep it accessible to us average users. His passion for photography makes his site one of my favorites.

Look for more "camera porn" come Friday. Panasonic is releasing a new mirrorless camera reputed to be the logical heir to their GF1. It's a fun time to be a photographer.
