Any fellow loners here diagnosed SPD and/or OCD?
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 01:22 PM by phrigndumass
Hi Gang,

I'm still somewhat of a n00b here. I'm a loner, and I like it that way.

I've been diagnosed with SPD (Schizoid Personality Disorder), mostly overt, which explains my loner status. I am also OCD. Wondering if I share this with anyone here who is willing to talk about it?

SPD is "a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle ..." (see link below for more) (note: Schizoid is very different from schizophrenia)

If you're curious about SPD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid_personality_disorder

I *really* despise the term "schizoid" and wish there were a syndrome name for it, like Asperger's for instance. Some have said that Kurt Cobain had SPD ... wouldn't mind seeing it called Cobain's syndrome if that's true.

Glad to be here!

- Phrig :)

Edited to say: It's okay to PM me instead of posting here.

1. Not me, though I can relate a bit.
Things move slow down here, just so you know.

2. That was interesting
I could really see a lot of the symptoms in myself. Thanks for the info.

3. Hey Phrig
I may share that condition, don't care for socializing at all, and have less over time (now aged 51).

Interestingly, my job often involves conducting trainings and events with large groups, but that's not daily.

On my own time, I'd just as soon be alone or just with my girlfriend.

Odd that your OP sat here for months without a reply.

Thanks for your awesome posts during the campaigns.

4. IMO Schizoid Personality Disorder IS Asperger's Syndrome
SPD seems like a BS label from the Bad Old Days of Freudianism that was applied to people that would now days be diagnosed with Asperger's
