I don't--I want to be left alone. Because I'm not good at chat at all.

1. I have to disagree. I don't think, if that were really the case about you,
that you would post. I think the truth is, that you are like the rest of us, you think you want to be left alone, because you feel your chat or communication skills are not good. But they are good. They are just too brief.
I used to feel that I did not want to communicate also, but have learned that the way is to go ahead and put something out there. If no one responds, ok. You have to be able to take what looks like rejection.
Chat by definition is brief, so you even have that part down quite well.
You just need to take chances, and state a like or dislike. That way someone can respond. Or not as they feel at the time.

2. Thanks--I did chat briefly with someone the other day and it was OK.
I guess like anything it takes getting used to (but still isn't something I'd want to do ALL the time because there are so many other things I like doing online.)

3. I know it is difficult. I went to a coffee shop Friday and talked to
someone standing there. A gentleman about my age. Outside we exchanged a few words, then talked for 2 hours. Differences, but many things in common.
He called me, and told me when he would be at the coffee shop again, and told me to meet him there.
I did today and again 2 hours. And an agreement to meet again, go for lunch, ride bicycles or motorcycles together, etc.
Then he left.
So I looked around for my next conversation. Behind me a loud, loud mouth wing nut was cussing, bragging, and bsing. I just had to walk away.
Sometimes it's good and other times it's like falling into a cesspool.
