I know you didn't ask for suggestions, but when I saw your post I couldn't help but think how I always find holidays something of a challenge. More often than not it's good to have a strategy -- such as getting together with a like-minded friend or friends, or taking yourself off to the theater or movies for a treat.

And you're right; it is hard to find someone special...
