My telephone doesn't ring for days
either my landline or cellphone. I know I have people that I should call (another unfulfilled New Year's resolution :P ) but it really doesn't bother me that much. I'm not rude, I do return messages.

Anyone else feel like that?

P.S. The cellphone came in handy when my mother was severely ill over the past summer. Sometimes, technology good.

1. I really look on the phone as an intrusion sometimes.
When I want some alone time and the phone doesn't seem to stop ringing it's really draining to me.

2. There is this little plug thing on the back.
If you disconnect it, it stops working.

3. Yes or the off switch.
But it's really an intrusion at work. Unavoidable I guess.

4. Oh yeah, work, I'd forgotten that.
I used to get a sore ear from that at work, and they
get mad if you disable it.

5. Somedays it's nice and quiet.
But others I feel like a stock trader on the trading floor rather than a hospital clinic.

6. Days?! Try YEARS.
That's right- years. It's changing. Lately my realtor has called, and my older parents have called a few times. But there were literally years where my phone never received an incoming call. So that means you're not alone.

7. doesn't bother me either.
my husband and I got cell phones for emergency and ride-coordinating reasons (we have one car between us), and we get so few calls from anyone else that we're disconnecting our land line phone. Why pay for it?

9. Me too
And I also hate when I do answer and the person yaks my head off and doesn't permit me a segue to end the conversation.

12. People who have known me for YEARS
And know my schedule will STILL call in the a.m. I'm tempted to call them at 2am "just to talk" and see how they like it. Not so chipper, are we Day Person?

14. g.d. Day People is right
It's bad enough they run the damn world. I mean, like everything important goes on at 8 in the frigging morning. But what's even worse is they are so freakin' cheerful at the crack of freakin' dawn. Preternaturally so. It's unnerving.

I've always been a night person. Always. From the time I was a toddler, I was in a wretchedly bad mood every morning until at least 11 am. On this job, I never start off work in a bad mood. My mood may worsen due to situations but it's not just the generic bad morning mood I always suffered from when I was forced to be in the "day world".

16. we are kindred spirits, ccbombs!
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 01:42 PM by Skittles
when I was a kid I routinely fell asleep doing homework in the evening, then would get up in the middle of the night and complete it with a clear mind before going to school! What I dislike about the day folk is they are so freaking regimented - they do stuff always at the same time - gawd, the herds going to work, the herds going to lunch at the same time.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! When I am forced to adhere to their routine due to, say, a doctor appointment, I always feel like a fish out of water! The few years I have worked first shift I very often slept when I got home from work and stayed up all night!

LOL - I had a dentist appt a couple of weeks ago - my dentist said I'M ALWAYS HAVING TO WAKE THE NIGHT PEOPLE UP. I was done with my cleaning, waiting for the dentist exam - and promptly fell asleep!

PRETERNATURALLY! One of my favorite words from one of my favorite movies - The Haunting (1963)

11. Aside from a pretty protective mother
who calls twice a day, I don't hear from many people.

Oh, actually, Bill Clinton called me last summer to try to get me to send money to the Kerry campaign. It was a recording, of course, but still...:)

15. Don't you hate it when...
you get calls from the people you don't want to talk to (a glaring example is calls from a friend's ex-girlfriend, whom I didn't like to begin with), and no returns from the people you would like to talk to. I haven't figured that one out yet, either.

18. Mine either, I LOVE it !!
... the only reason I finally got a cell phone (just last month) was because I was going on an extended roadtrip and a couple people were razzing me about 'what if your car breaks down' blah blah ...

Most of the time, I don't even have the ringer for my home phone on, so if someone does call, I don't know it unless they leave a message on my answering machine (which I check every few days).

:)

19. I've spent more time on the phone in the last 3 months than
I have in the last 3 years; all business calls dealing with the complications involved in moving 900 miles away. Since the move was finalized a week and a half ago, the only person to call is my mom. She calls more often than necessary, but she always has. The answering machine works well.

My new place is at the dead end of a private dirt road next to miles of public land. Heaven.

Never fails. If you want people to be "concerned" about you, just stiff 'em on their monthly payment....

25. Your phone rings??? I'm jealous!
*self-deprecating laugh* wow... I more texting than calling on my cell phone, but not even that much, since everyone I know (not alot of people) are off living their lives, and I'm usually at work. When I'm not at work I'm in my room, because I just feel up to socializing...
