We'd all be making friends with the walls and potted plants...

2. Ha Ha! Nah, I'd talk to ya, HT

I'm sure there would be a silence at the beginning as we all adjust to being around others, but that's just a transitional thing.

I couldn't imagine being with a more understanding group. :D

4. Not all loners are shy
I'm not. I can be very chatty and gregarious, when I feel like it. That's a common misconception about loners, I think. That we're all quiet and reticent. Some are but some aren't. Similarly, a lot of non-loners are actually not very sociable but they need constant companionship.

I just know my limitations at this point in my life. When I don't feel like being around people I stay home. When I do, I go find some people to be around.

5. Not if there were cats and dogs around
I've been known to retire in another room with a cat on my lap when parties get to be too much...

6. I used to have a friend
who held a monthly "girls night out" open house. No kids or husbands allowed, although there were a few same-sex partners there. Anywhere from 10 - 25 women would show up, bringing food for a potluck, and the evening would take off from there. The unique thing is that nothing was ever planned, and you could do anything you wanted. Socialize, or not. Some would be in a room watching a movie, others reigning over the stereo, some playing pool, some board games, some in the pool, some in the hottub, some outside, some in.

I usually made sure to spend 5-15 minutes or so with each group, then retired to the hottub until well cooked, and then often curled up in a corner in a bathrobe with a drink and let the "party" pass me by. Those with something to say often sought me out for a bit, and then left me on my own again. The unusual thing was that this was not considered "unsociable;" to each her own, and if part of a night off was "quiet time," that was fine. I wasn't the only one to curl up quietly and let everyone else do the socializing, either.

Perhaps that's the way the group would go; introductions, and then to each his/her own, allowing each to decide how much socialization was "right."
