1. I'm not sure what to make of that.
It's clearly a concept piece that uses an alteration of the police sketch of the unibomber, but I can't imagine what the concept is.

I don't get the meaning Tremblay is adding with his signature adjacent shapes. I even tried looking at it with 'deep focus' like those 3d posters, but there's nothing there. ;)

Is it supposed to be a reference to Warhol? Is it just supposed to be controversial?

Why do you think its interesting?

6. why did the unibomber exist? does he have a name? what is really known
about him?

I think that this sketch shows the duality of the unibomber. He is the unknown, but we know of him. He is a terrorist, and a vigilante. He is a product of his family, but also of his society. His greatest strength was his reclusiveness, yet his ultimate downfall came from maintaining family ties. The unibomber was hated and sought after by countless Americans, yet was captured by the person that loved him the most.

Within these dualities, unity exists. Within all the spheres of reality that the unibomber existed (recluse, intellectual, vigilante, terrorist, author, mental patient, brother, and convict), each one is separate, but they all exist within one entity.

I see three sets of eyes. Perhaps they represent the hated terrorist unknown, the loved known brother, and the reality that they are one entity.

I also see this as a commentary on the death penalty. Society is the unibomber. Society wants to be safe, wants to act out against harm, desires belonging and continued existence. Society has a unknown underside (cia, mafia, gangs, homeland security, nsa) that is rooted in the existence of itself.

The unibomber is one of the few terrorist that are both unknown and known (unibomber and Ted Kaczynski). This is a unique situation (the anthrax mailer and jack the ripper are the only other criminals that I can think of), and I think that this sketch in a profound look into the psyche of the unibomber.

7. concept - complex duality
so complex in fact that there is a hint of a trinity. Each circle can represent a piece of this puzzle. A circle for mathematics, a circle for family, a circle for a secret government, a circle for empire, a circle for frugal living, a circle for revenge...

I don't think that there is any reference to warhol. I don't think that the intention is to create controversy.

I found this interesting because I think that it takes an interesting phenomenon (the unibomber), and asks the viewer to explore the subject in greater depth.

8. I get ya
however, I give more credit to you than I do to the artist in this case. :)
Your willingness to see the deepest possible is commendable, but I can't cite this piece as being a new facet of how to look at the unibomber.

Iow, I think your particular response could have been coaxed from any number of vague variations on a the police artist sketch of t.k.

This one for example:

11. great use of shade
At first I really didn't like the inclusion of color, as I thought that it took away from the duality of the subject. After some reflection I began to see the color as another "reality" within the drawing.

Was the unibomber a patriot or a saboteur? He was a criminal, but what motivated the crime?

I think that you did a great job at catching the confusion that this subject must present. :toast: to your talent.
