Surrealism of Biblical proportions!

Hyperbole can be fun!
Actually, this is Surrealism INSPIRED by bible passages;
most of it is only 16"x20".

(I accidentally committed a ThreadJacking in LBN involving
the artwork; when DUer Tellurian asked to see more, I thought
I should start a new thread over here instead of continuing
off-topic there)

Sorry for the poor quality of some of these photos;
I'm getting BETTER with my camera, but it's a slow process.

Here's the one from LBN, "Revelations 6:5-6" (AKA "The Third Horseman")

5 And when he had opened the third seal,
I heard the third beast say, Come and see.
And I beheld, and lo a black horse;
and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say,
A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny;
and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.



The only other Horseman in this series who is officially FINISHED
is the second, "Revelations 6:4".

4 And there went out another horse that was red:
and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth,
and that they should kill one another:
and there was given unto him a great sword.


And of course, it's not just Revelations that lends itself
well to the Surrealist cause; almost any book in there will do.

Here's "Genesis 8:11",

11And the dove came in to him in the evening;
and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off:
so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.


And a very simple one, "Genesis 3:24",

24 So he drove out the man;
and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims,
and a flaming sword which turned every way,
to keep the way of the tree of life.

Great idea posting your art work here. Thanks for the opportunity
to view your great accomplishments. I think they're great and very
timely...Have you had a show yet?

Now I know you will derive great inspiration if you review the
explanations located at back of the book, The Secret Teachings of Jesus.

The riddles quoted are quite complex according to the translator. However, I
find them pretty easy to understand. Just unbelievable..is all.

2. Thanks for your kind words. As far as "shows", I have a few pieces...

...in galleries here and there. Exactly "what" and "where" changes
from week to week.

Some "galleries" have an atmosphere better-suited
to my work than others. Here's a small detail from
one of my favorites:


While most of my POLITICAL art is PhotoShop Toons,
I did paint this 16x20 of the flag lying in mud while
it turns into a Swastika. (That bit in the very center
seems to be morphing into the AT&T logo.)

Here's a smaller 12x16 that I keep tearing apart and reworking;
this is the 3rd incarnation.
"Citadel 1.2":

It'll be upgraded to version 1.3 sooner or later, unless
someone comes along and buys it first.

"Revelations 4:1-4"
1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven:
and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet
talking with me; which said, Come up hither,
and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone:
and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats:
and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting,
clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

4. Why? because "Modesty" FORBADE, that's why.

I do what I do, and I put it out there for all to see.

I have refrained from mentioning my artwork here at DU
because the subject seldom comes up in ordinary conversation.

And I have little respect for those types of folks
who feel the need to "mention" their artistic endeavors
every third thread.

To me, such desperate subject-directing smacks of "bragging".
And I have very little use for braggarts.
As a rule, BRAGGARTS bear the musty stench of stale DESPERATION.
And that smell gives me the creeps.

I do what I do, and sometimes "what I do" is PAINT.

And I feel no need to BRAG about my paintings,
just as I feel no need to APOLOGIZE for them.

They are what they are: "Things I Have Done".
And as far as that goes, well:

I do what I do, and I put it out there for all to see.
