Is fractal art genuine art?

I believe the fractal is the beginning of the artistic process, not the end. It's what you do with the raw form that makes it into something more than just a mathematical algorithmically generated thing.

1. What little I know of fractals, you could

fit in the eye of a gnat. I think it is the captured photo of an infinitesimal part of an atom or something - right?

I've seen a few things on PBS and I am always struck by the absolute beauty of these tiny things. I would have to say that this would be the very essence of art, if I am thinking along the right lines - so it would make sense that it is both the beginning (meaning that you can always add to it) and the end (meaning that it is already complete in itself) at the same time.
