what percentage of your week is art making? i am a full time mom, but now that my kids are older, i have more time to make art. i have a studio, and i try to get there are least once a week. i don't usually actually accomplish that, tho. twice a month is more like it. but it is a great inspiration to me that i will be wasting so much money if i don't get there. i do clay and some painting there.
i do consider my buttons to be part of my art, tho, and i spend a lot time on that. i consider my time at du to be part of that process. but apart from that, i spend about 20-30 hours a week on the design, production, and promotion of the buttons. it's not much money, but it sure is a lot of artistic satisfaction. i had hopes of returning to my own self-indulgent navel gazing during the kerry administration, but i guess i am making buttons for 4 moron years. so i have been working on making more of it, getting more retailers, and attending more events. i miss my navel.
so how about you? do you work every day? squeeze it in on the weekend? or like i was when the kids were little- lock yourself in a room for a day or 2, every few months, when you are ready to explode?
